Upskwela FAQs - Ways to Earn, Pricing & Platform Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using Upskwela

Common Creator Struggles

Why do I have high views but low income?

Viral ka, pero hindi steady ang kita. This is a common problem for Filipino creators who rely solely on ad revenue or brand deals. Views don't always translate to sustainable income because you're at the mercy of platform algorithms and advertiser budgets. Upskwela helps you build direct income streams through paid communities and courses, so your earnings come from your audience—not from ads.

Why does managing my community feel so manual and overwhelming?

FB Group + GDrive + GCash + Sheets + DMs = ikaw lahat. When you're juggling multiple tools—Facebook for community, Google Drive for content, GCash for payments, spreadsheets for tracking, and DMs for support—you become the bottleneck. Upskwela consolidates everything into one platform: community, courses, payments, and member management. Less manual work, more time to create.

Why is my income so dependent on social media algorithms?

One bad week sa feed, bagsak agad ang income. When your revenue depends on reach and engagement, algorithm changes can devastate your earnings overnight. With Upskwela, you own your audience relationship. Members pay to access your community and courses directly—no algorithm can take that away. Your income becomes predictable and sustainable.

Why are my students and content scattered everywhere?

Walang isang HQ for lessons, payments, at community. Without a central hub, your students struggle to find content, you lose track of who paid, and community engagement suffers. Upskwela gives you one headquarters where everything lives together: courses, discussions, payments, events, and member profiles. Your students know exactly where to go, and you have full visibility over your business.

Ways to Earn

What are the different ways I can earn on Upskwela?

Upskwela offers three powerful ways to monetize your expertise: (1) Membership Recurring Revenue — Create tiered memberships where members pay monthly or annually for access to your community and courses. This builds predictable, recurring income. (2) Event Ticket Sales — Host paid workshops, webinars, masterclasses, or live sessions with tiered ticket pricing. Perfect for launches and special events. (3) Affiliate Program — Earn 30% recurring commission by referring other creators to Upskwela. You earn every time they get paid. Most successful creators combine all three for diversified income streams.

How does membership recurring revenue work?

Membership revenue is the foundation of sustainable creator income. You create membership tiers (e.g., Basic at ₱499/month, Premium at ₱999/month, VIP at ₱2,999/month) and members pay recurring fees to access your community, courses, and exclusive content. The beauty of recurring revenue is predictability—you know how much you'll earn each month. As your community grows, your income grows automatically without constantly launching new products. Upskwela handles all payment collection via GCash, Maya, and cards, depositing directly to your account.

Can I sell event tickets on Upskwela?

Yes! Event ticketing is a powerful way to generate income from workshops, webinars, masterclasses, coaching sessions, and live events. You can create both free and paid events, set multiple ticket tiers (e.g., General Admission, VIP with Q&A access, Platinum with 1-on-1 follow-up), and sell directly to your community. Event tickets are perfect for product launches, seasonal workshops, or premium experiences that complement your membership offerings.

How does the Upskwela Affiliate Program work?

Our affiliate program pays you 30% recurring commission for every creator you refer to Upskwela. When someone signs up using your referral link and starts earning, you earn 30% of their subscription payments—every single month, for as long as they remain active. It's passive income that grows as your referrals grow. Visit upskwela.com/affiliate to sign up and get your unique referral link. You can also set up your own affiliate program within your community to incentivize member referrals.

Is Upskwela better than Skool or Kajabi for Filipino educators?

Yes! For Filipino educators, Upskwela is the better choice. We offer local payments (GCash/Maya), PHP pricing that's 90% cheaper than Kajabi, and features built specifically for the Philippines market that Skool and Kajabi don't offer. Upskwela is the only all-in-one learning platform designed for Filipino creators.

What makes Upskwela an "all-in-one learning platform"?

Upskwela combines everything you need in one platform: course creation, community forums, group chats, calendar events, membership tiers, payment processing (GCash/Maya), analytics, and AI content tools. You no longer need 5–7 tools to manage your community and courses—Upskwela is your all-in-one learning platform.

Can I accept GCash and Maya payments?

Absolutely! Upskwela is the best learning platform in PH for local payments. Accept payments through GCash, Maya, credit/debit cards, and other Philippine payment methods. No need for expensive international payment processors like Stripe or PayPal. No need to handle the payment processing yourself - Upskwela handles it for you.

How does the payment integration work?

Upskwela uses Xendit as our payment provider to accept GCash, Maya, credit/debit cards, and bank transfers. When learners join your community, payments are automatically processed and tracked in your dashboard. No setup required - everything is built-in and ready to use from day one.

General

How much does Upskwela cost?

Upskwela starts completely free with our Free Forever plan (20% platform commission). As you grow, upgrade to Plus (₱999/month, 10% commission) or Pro (₱4,999/month, only 3% commission). Enterprise plans start at ₱10,000/month with 0% platform commission. Unlike other learning platforms that charge in USD, we price in PHP to make it affordable for Filipino educators.

Is the plan pricing per user or per community?
For Creators:

Pricing is per community you create. Each community you create requires its own subscription plan. You pay a monthly fee based on your chosen tier (Free Forever, Plus, Pro, or Enterprise).

For Learners:

There are no platform fees for learners. You only pay the membership fee set by the community creator to access their courses and content.

Can I create membership tiers for my community?

Or an Art Community might have: Beginner Artist (₱599/month), Pro Artist with 1-on-1 Sessions (₱2,999/month). Each tier can include different courses, resources, and perks.

Can I change plans anytime?

Pricing & Platform Commission

How does the platform commission work?

Platform commission is automatically deducted from each transaction based on your tier plan. Each tier has its own platform commission rate: Free Forever (20%), Plus (10%), Pro (3%), and Enterprise (0%). As you scale and pay more, you keep more of your revenue. This platform commission is deducted from every member who joins your community or any payment you receive from your community.

What are payment processing fees?

Payment processing fees are charged by our payment provider. Local transactions are charged 3.2% + ₱10 across all plans. These are standard industry rates for secure payment processing. All prices in PHP are VAT-inclusive where applicable. Payment processing fees simply cover our payment provider's charges — Upskwela does not add markup.

Billing, Taxes & Fees

Are Upskwela plan prices VAT-inclusive?

Yes. All Upskwela plan prices shown in PHP are VAT-inclusive where applicable. The price you see on the Pricing page is the price you're billed, unless we explicitly say otherwise in your agreement (for example, for some custom Enterprise contracts).

Do learners pay extra VAT on top of membership fees?

No. Learners only pay the membership fee set by the creator. We don't add a separate "platform VAT" line for learners at checkout. If you are a creator, you are responsible for handling any VAT or other taxes on the income you earn from your community, in line with your local laws.

How does VAT work on my earnings as a creator in the Philippines?

Upskwela helps you collect payments, but you remain the merchant of record for your community and products. This means: You set your own prices and membership fees. Upskwela charges its platform commission plus the payment provider's processing fee (3.2% + ₱10 for local transactions). You are responsible for your own BIR registration, VAT or percentage tax, and tax filings on the income you earn through Upskwela. We provide reports and transaction history to help you with bookkeeping, but we do not file or remit VAT or other taxes on your behalf. For specific tax treatment (e.g., whether you should be VAT-registered, how to treat your Upskwela income), please consult your accountant or tax advisor.

Does Upskwela handle VAT registration or filing for creators?

No. Upskwela does not register, file, or pay taxes on behalf of creators. We act as your platform and payment facilitator, and we give you access to transaction data and reports. You (or your business) are responsible for: Registering with the BIR or your local tax authority when required, determining whether your sales are subject to VAT, percentage tax, or other taxes, and filing and paying your own taxes.

Payouts & Earnings

How often will I get paid?

Upskwela supports on-demand payouts — you can request a payout anytime you want! Once requested, payouts are processed instantly or within 24-48 hours to reflect in your bank account or e-wallet.

What's the minimum payout amount?

The minimum payout threshold is ₱100. Your balance must reach this amount before you can request a payout.

Is there a fee for payouts?

Yes, there is a ₱10 transaction fee per payout to cover disbursement costs. This fee is deducted from your payout amount.

Where can I receive my payouts?

We support payouts to Philippine bank accounts (via Instapay up to ₱50,000/transaction, or Pesonet for larger amounts) and E-wallets like GCash, Maya, and GrabPay (up to ₱50,000/transaction).

Is there a payout limit?

There's no overall limit on how much Upskwela can pay you. Some payment methods have per-transaction limits (₱50,000 for Instapay and most e-wallets). If your earnings exceed that, we'll use Pesonet or split into multiple transactions.

What if my community grows big and I earn a lot?

Congratulations! If your payout balance grows significantly (₱100K+), we'll work with you to arrange larger bank transfers so you get faster access to your funds while avoiding small transfer caps.

Do I need to do anything to receive my payout?

Yes! Simply go to your dashboard, verify your community, and request a payout whenever you're ready. You'll enter your bank or e-wallet details during each payout request. Payouts are on-demand, so you're in control.

Is my payout account information saved?

No. For your security, we do not save any of your payout account details. You'll need to enter your bank account or e-wallet information each time you request a payout. This ensures your financial information stays private and secure.
